What makes Transitions® lenses work?
Simply put, the performance of Transitions lenses centers around the application of special photochromic dyes to the lens. Molecules that make up that dye appear colourless in the absence of ultraviolet light. However, when exposed to invisible UV light outdoors, the molecules change shape and appear as a colour tint. Remove the lens from UV light and molecules quickly revert to their colourless state, appearing and performing like clear lenses.
